Privacy notice
Last updated 4 September 2026
This website collects nothing, stores nothing and sets no cookies. That is unusual enough to be worth explaining properly rather than hiding behind boilerplate, so this notice says both what this site actually does and what a real one would have to cover.
This is a demonstration website
Meridian Facility Services is a fictional company created to demonstrate a commercial janitorial website. This notice describes what a real privacy notice for a contractor of this kind would need to cover, and it also describes, accurately, what this particular website does.
What this website does is straightforward: it is a set of static HTML pages served from a content delivery network. There is no database, no analytics script, no advertising pixel, no session cookie and no server side form handler. The walkthrough request form validates in your browser and then stops. Nothing you type is transmitted anywhere, stored anywhere or read by anybody.
Information a real version of this site would collect
A live commercial cleaning website would normally collect the following, and a real notice would say so plainly.
- Information you submit through a walkthrough or contact form: your name, role, organisation, work email, phone number, facility details and anything you type into a free text field.
- Information you send by email or leave in a voicemail, which is retained in the ordinary course of business.
- Technical information created automatically by a web server: IP address, user agent, referring page and timestamps, generally held in access logs for a limited period.
- Analytics information, if an analytics tool were in use, describing which pages were viewed and in what order.
How that information would be used
A commercial cleaning contractor has no legitimate reason to sell contact information or to use a facility manager's enquiry for unrelated marketing, and a real notice should commit to that in as many words.
- To respond to a request for a walkthrough, a bid or general information.
- To prepare a scope of work and a price for a specific building.
- To manage an existing account, including inspection reporting and service records.
- To meet a legal, insurance or contractual obligation.
- To recruit, where a message is sent to the careers address.
Information about buildings and their occupants
Cleaning contractors are in a genuinely unusual position. Our staff are inside your building at night, alone, with access to spaces containing confidential information. That is a privacy obligation running toward our clients rather than toward website visitors, and it is worth stating on the same page.
Technicians are trained not to read, move, photograph or discuss anything left in a work area. In healthcare settings that obligation is formalised through HIPAA awareness training covering minimum necessary and incidental disclosure. Any breach of it is a disciplinary matter, and any incident is reported to the client the same shift.
Cookies and tracking on this website
This website sets no cookies. It uses one item of browser session storage, under the key mc-sector, which remembers whether you last looked at the Office, Medical, Education or Industrial sector so the navigation stays consistent as you move between pages. It contains a single word, it never leaves your browser, and it is cleared when you close the tab.
There is no analytics, no tag manager, no advertising pixel and no third party embed of any kind. Because there is nothing to consent to, there is no cookie banner.
Third parties
The site is served as static files. Fonts are self hosted rather than loaded from a font provider, and images are served from the same origin. No request your browser makes while reading this page goes to a company other than the hosting provider.
A live version would typically involve a hosting provider, an email provider and possibly a customer relationship management system, and a real notice would name each of them.
Retention
A real notice would state a period. For a commercial cleaning contractor the usual shape is: enquiries that do not become accounts held for around twelve months, account records held for the life of the contract plus the period the applicable statute of limitations and insurance requirements demand, and training and safety records held for the periods OSHA requires.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what information an organisation holds about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to certain uses of it. A real notice would give a named contact and a response time.
Because this site collects nothing, there is nothing here to request, correct or delete.
Contact
On a live site this section would name a privacy contact and an address. For this demonstration, the placeholder address is rfp@meridianfacility.example, which reaches nobody.
